Open source software for data collection from SDI-12 sensors connected to an Arduino microcontroller.

Abstract

Description

This document is open source software intended for the development of low-cost data acquisition and telemetry systems for geotechnical instrumentation applications. This software determines all addresses for active SDI-12 (serial digital interface 1,200 Baud) sensors connected to an Arduino microcontroller, and logs data from each sensor. SDI-12 sensors are commonly used for measuring matric suction, volumetric water content and temperature sensor. TERMS OF USE: The following sketch is to be considered open-source and is largely based on open-source example code from https://github.com/EnviroDIY/Arduino-SDI-12. Modifications have been made to combine a number of examples and tailor the code to geotechnical use. Use of the following open-source code is encouraged to help in the construction of an open-source datalogger.
