Abstract
Description
One-in-four Canadian children are overweight or obese, a statistic that has nearly tripled over the past 25 years. All aspects of this photograph tie in together to capture the Big Two of pediatric obesity: nutrition and physical activity. My research at the Department of Pediatrics aims to explore what goes on beyond the common representations of obesity – the complexity of obesity – more specifically, does the burger need to have such a negative connotation and be pushed backwards? How can we ensure that healthy lifestyle changes are prioritized while still maintaining balance?
