Abstract
Description
This is a transcription of Paul Mascarene’s eighteenth-century translation of Molière’s Le Misanthrope, based on an undated and untitled manuscript that is bound in a volume with other records from Mascarene’s time as a military and civic leader in British Nova Scotia, held in the British Library. The transcript is intended as a companion to my article on Mascarene's manuscript and its lessons for scholarship on the assimilation of Huguenots in the global refuge: “British, but also French: Paul Mascarene’s Translation of Molière’s Le Misanthrope in Colonial Nova Scotia,” to be published separately in Quebec Studies in 2021. The accepted, pre-publication version of this article is available here: https://doi.org/10.7939/r3-40wh-t070
