Abstract

Description

SSHRC Awarded IDG 2018: This project is part of an international collaboration that aims to enhance musicians’ health literacy worldwide. We propose, therefore, to offer musician specific education to post-secondary music students at 3 different institutions in Canada. In 2018/19, students at 2 universities will receive access to Sound Performers, an online course designed and tested in Australia. Students will pursue this optional course at their own pace. Simultaneously, a third university will offer an elective, credit course, Health and Music Performance, which incorporates Sound Performers (blended learning). All students will be invited to complete a survey before, after, and 3 months after the course is completed. All students will also be invited to participate in a focus groups during and after the course. The goal of the focus groups is to understand the experiences of learners in the two educational settings.
