Abstract

Description

This integrative project highlights the importance of promoting critical pedagogy as a transformative teaching practice in the legal field. Drawing on the contributions of Pierre Bourdieu and Paulo Freire, it challenges the traditional legal school for reproducing legal agents who, in their various roles, perpetuate hierarchies, structures, and power systems that marginalize vulnerable social sectors. It proposes decolonizing legal education through a critical pedagogy that fosters dialogue, collaborative learning, and the appreciation of lived experience, positioning the teacher as a facilitator in a horizontal relationship with their students. It also raises the need to transform the curriculum, the academic dimension, and assessment practices. Finally, it analyzes the Latin American context and presents conclusions aimed at building a more inclusive and emancipatory legal education.
