This paper discusses the impact copyright law has on Canadian libraries. This account focuses on two aspects of copyright law, namely the doctrine of fair dealing and technological protection measures (or digital rights management). A thorough literature review on these subjects is included in this report, along with a critical view of copyright in the context of libraries. The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the need for librarians to familiarize themselves with Canadian copyright law.
