A review of the lifetime trajectories of cortical development and how they may differ in people who stutter

Abstract

Description

This paper is directed towards an audience who is less familiar with cortical development across the lifespan. We summarized brain imaging research that has examined cortical growth in the typical population and highlighted this growth as it relates to the speech relevant regions of the brain. Following this, we used previously collected pilot data to illustrate how cortical growth in people who stutter may be abnormal.
